And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (NLT) ( Philippians 4:8 )

Phillipians 4:8 has had a huge impact on my lifestyle choices and I hope it continues to do so. It essentially tells us to only take in positivity and block out all forms of negativity.
The text became a principle that I decided to live by after going through an experience when I felt exposed to negativity in its highest form. Once I got rid of all the forms of negativity that I had in my house, in the form of films, books, etc, I felt like a huge weight came off my shoulders.
It didn’t mean that now I felt like life was perfect; I felt like I was able to hear Jesus’ voice more clearly.
Are there any things in your life that bring negativity into your life? In order to be able to answer that question, you have to first ask yourself, what does negativity mean to me?
You see, what negativity means to me may be different from what other people consider as negativity. However, the bible makes it clear what negativity is. In a nutshell, it is sin.
Sin is what separates us from God. It is what makes us desire to do bad rather than good. It makes us think we are self sufficient and we can manage without God when the truth is that we wouldn’t even be alive today, if it wasn’t for God’s grace. When we let go of sin, we feel liberated and at peace with God and ourselves. It is at that point that we are able to praise God with all our heart because only He can free us from the curse of sin.
I hope that you are encouraged to let go of all forms of negativity and enjoy a life of peace, positivity and prosperity.
