What do you fear? Is it financial ruin, loneliness, pain, poor health, or the collapse of your family? When you feel afraid, and fear has its strong grip on you, remember this: God is with you. Acknowledging this will allow you to conquer your fear and steady your steps. As you move forward, step by step, your fear will fade away as you recognize that your strength is with God. He is with you.

I really like this devotional because it is preaching something very contrary to what the world teaches us today. The world is always encouraging us to believe in ourselves and that all the strength comes from within us. However that is an utter lie from the devil.

He wants us to think that we can do things on our own because he knows that when we trust in ourselves, he will be able to defeat us.

However, once we put our trust in God then we are on the winning team.

When I read this devotional, it reminded me of a time that I really needed to know that God was with me.

I won’t go into the details about the situation write now as it is a long story but I will share this. I was at one of my darkest moments in my life when I had felt like the enemy (the devil) had consumed me to the extent that I could no longer be a child of God.

I was compelled to read the bible to find out how I should react towards the situation. When I read the scriptures, I came across texts such as “be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6); “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you”  (Psalm 56:3); “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

Those texts gave me lots of encouragement and I believed that God was telling me in that situation that the battle was not mine, it was His. I just needed to run to Him and put all my trust in Him and He would deliver me.

You may also be going through your own struggle and you feel like the enemy is having the upper hand but I’m here to tell you to hold on to Jesus! Know that He is willing to carry your burdens and help you get through any situation.

God bless x
